Getting Here

The city of Southampton can be reached easily by both road and rail. The University of Southampton’s Avenue Campus, which houses the discipline of Archaeology, is located around 2 miles from the town centre, Southampton Central railway station as well as Southampton Coach Station, and is a short trip from these by either taxi or bus.

Southampton is served by Southampton Airport, which can be reached directly from Paris, Malaga, Verona, Frankfurt amongst other European cities, as well as many locations in the UK. Southampton is also easily accessible via London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports, by either coach or train. For more information on arriving from abroad see the university website.

The symposium cannot provide accommodation within the university. However, there are several hotels and bed & breakfasts that we would recommend. There are a number of very affordable bed and breakfasts a short walk from the faculty, or there are hotels in central Southampton (a taxi or bus ride away).
